Solasta 2 Exploration Guide – Open World, Overworld Map & Random Encounters
Travelling Neokos
Use the overworld map to plan routes between settlements, dungeons and random points of interest. Each hex may contain encounters, skill checks, lore events or merchants. Staying on roads is safer but slower. Cutting through wilderness saves time at the risk of ambushes. At night, perception penalties make ambushes more likely. Make camp regularly to regain hit points, prepare spells and avoid exhaustion.
Environmental Hazards and Puzzles
Geysers, spike pits and magic runes trigger at the start of their turn in combat. Observe their warning animations and avoid standing on affected tiles. In dungeons, expect vertical traversal using ladders, jump points or floating platforms - Neokos’ floating rocks alter the landscape. Some caves have tides that change accessibility. Plan your exploration to avoid being trapped. Perception checks automatically detect traps and hidden passages when your party’s best perception score meets the DC.
Random Encounters and Quests
Random encounters aren’t limited to simple combat with kobolds, crabs or bandits. They often become small stories. In one scenario, a party must decide how to free a captive Siklas named Jabori - by fighting the kobolds, sneaking around them to steal a prized dragon scale or negotiating for his release, each choice leads to a different outcome. Another quest tasks you with rescuing missing fishermen, but choosing to rest instead of acting quickly may result in their deaths. These situations illustrate how much your decisions influence the narrative and the variety of ways you can handle encounters.
